Can anyone recomend a goood aftermarket USB adaptor? such as nexiq or DG technologies?

Has anyone ever tried to get an OEM adaptor such as cat ET coms box to work on other Protocalls or equipment ?

I have a Cat ET adaptor series 2 and was wondering if it is possible ?

I have been told that cat cables will only do cat. You need nexiq cables for best all around useage.
