SIS 2009B release:

Beginning with the 2009B release, SIS DVD/Network will require an independent license, which will force (or require) a new license be obtained after upgrading to 2009B. SIS will no longer be able use the 2009A or older licenses nor does it inherit from the Service Technician Workbench (STW) or Cat ET (Electronic Technician).
Service Repair Information will have minor changes including twistees to expand/collapse the view for that specific header. Service Repair Information is available through the Document Structure access method. In order to access Service Repair Information through SIS, the SIS Administrator/Service Software Dealer Administrator from the dealership will need to grant access to ALL of the combined information types. The Advanced interface will also need to be selected through the User Preferences section from the Main Menu.

STW/SIS Web Integration Default is enabled through SIS Preferences section, displaying the Send to Service Report button. This preference can be turned on and off depending upon your STW usage.
Improved Integration from SIS Web Parts List to STW Service Report
The Send to Service Report option from SIS Parts List now prompts to allow the user options to edit a report that’s already open on the machine, edit a report that is saved on the machine or start a new report.
Hover Text for Consist List
SIS Web now provides hover text displaying code definitions when viewing a consist list saving the technician from scrolling. The code definitions remain displayed at the bottom of the consist list.
Introduction of a New Information Type- Service Repair Information
To improve technician navigation efficiency, we have consolidated five information types (System Operation, Testing & Adjusting, Troubleshooting, Disassembly and Assembly and Specifications) into one called Service Repair Information. On the SIS Main Menu, the user enters the serial number prefix for the equipment to be serviced and selects “Document Structure.” The new information type will display at the top of the screen.
New Commonality Chart references service literature associated with Cat machinery manufactured in the Japan market
The purpose of the Commonality Chart is to display Caterpillar machines that were manufactured for inside the Japanese market. This can be used as a reference between countries. Once the appropriate serial number has been select from the Main Menu, click on the Document Structure access method. You can then select the Commonality Chart from the Configuration screen. The chart will not display if it is not applicable for that equipment.

SIS 2004B released November 8, 2004:

All data access methods that were previously available in SIS Windows are available in SIS DVD, with the exception of "Tool Information."
Several new data access methods were added and are available from the main page of SIS DVD. These include "Filter Search," "Similar Parts Search," Service Forms," and "Media Search."
Links on the main page of SIS DVD are replacements for information available through SIS Windows. The Release Notes link replaces the software release notes, and the New Information link replaces the data release notes.
The SIS Users folder and its included tools will no longer be created on the desktop. This has been replaced by a SIS icon that will appear in the system tray when SIS DVD is launched. Clicking on the icon will bring up a menu with options to import users, open the user admin, and configure the data source.
Minimize, maximize, and close functionality was added to the navigation frame of the parts consist page. Also, viewable space was increased for parts and service documents.
For SIS DVD to work properly, TCP/IP will need to be installed on the machine.
Note: More information about each enhancement can be found in a related topic of the User's Guide. Access the User Guide by clicking on "Help" link on the bottom left hand corner of the main page.
